Hi!
Welcome to my online LogBook.

I am Hatice Tuğba Karayama, born in Ankara in 1995. I am a Ph.D. candidate in architecture and also a photographer.

I completed my undergraduate studies at Middle East Technical University, Department of Architecture, in 2018, along with an associate degree in Photography and Camerama Operation at Anadolu University. Between 2019 and 2023, I pursued my master’s degree at METU and worked as a Research Assistant at Bolu Abant Izzet Baysal University. During this period, my research centered on disability rights, barrier-free design, and teaching universal design principles in undergraduate architectural studios. I also organized photography workshops for architecture students in Ankara and Bolu.

Since 2023, I have been continuing my doctoral studies and working as a research assistant at Istanbul Technical University. My current research investigates inclusive architectural education, particularly how the presence of disabled participants in design studios influences students’ awareness of inclusive design. Alongside this, I actively contribute to academic projects, conferences, and editorial work.

Studying both photography and the universal design paradigm — while commuting between cities to study and work — has shaped my perspective on accessibility, representation, and space. My photographs sometimes find their way into my academic life as well — for instance, being featured on a journal cover — reminding me how creativity and research can meet.

With this online LogBook, I share my experiences, reflections, and research in both fields.

I hope you enjoy it.
